This course is designed to improve your academic and language skills, with emphasis placed on thesis-driven writing. To achieve this you will critically interact with, discuss and write about a wide range of texts (e.g. societal, scientific, psychological, etc.) thematically linked to artificial intelligence, super-intelligence and how future of the human race will be shaped. Furthermore, throughout the course you will learn to question both personal and societal concerns about artificial intelligence and the development of super-intelligence, the causes and effects. For example, how possible is it for human to integrate AI into the body? What might be some optimistic and pessimistic scenarios about developing AI with its own ability to learn and function? What economic implications could be observed when machines take over the positions in the workplace? Will there be new professions or no professions for people at all? Will it be possible for human to live forever? Will AI like us? Conclusions to such questions will develop depending on class-based discussions of ideas/concepts generated through shared interpretations of course texts
